I’d like to be present to my own perception of beauty.  I wanted to go someplace where beauty wasn’t something that was being sold in every magazine, tv/movie screen, and advertisement.  I started spending more time in countries that I had never heard very much about.  Islands in the Pacific where communities still use stone money, people live in the trees, and cannibalism still exists.  I found these communities an interesting place to experiment with different concepts of beauty and these Self Portraits are an expression of faith in beauty of the Female spirit.
